I could have tried to buy another keyboard or a cable, but that seemed like an overkill. Instead, I grabbed the adb cable off an old mac keyboard sitting around and attached it to a PS/2 cable. A bit of trial and error revealed which pins to connect.
here are the pinouts; colours are as they were on the particular cables I happened to have and may or may not match what you have.
